Textiles from Guizhou Province in China
Christine was fortunate to visit the little known Guizhou Province in the South West of China where she and her husband went on a ‘Textile & Photography’ tour to visit the villages of the Miao people. The wealth of different methods of producing cloth, indigo dyeing, batik and extensive embroidery interspersed with the amazing landscape and the captivating Chinese children is shown on slides. Examples gathered on the journey will also be shown as well as quilts inspired by the visit.

Inspirations, Innovations and Traditions
Our environment, climate, nature, landscapes, architecture and colour, influence all of us. How do we translate that into our quilt making? Maybe the inspirations come from watching a film, attending a quilt show, reading a book, our favourite animals or that special holiday photo. Christine shows some examples of sources of design and how they resulted in the quilts made by her and other quilt makers around the world.
A beautifully illustrated lecture.
